Fresh Make Up Looks

May 31, 2011
One of the biggest rules when it comes to wearing make-up is you need to choose if you want your eyes or your lips to stand out. You can't have them both at the same time. Think Gwen Stefani - she has been rocking the red lipstick look for years but her eyes are always kept simple. These looks from RAFW have the same effect. The colours used on both are gorgeous and will be the colours of choice for Spring/Summer. The orange is going to be a colour that not all can wear but pink lipstick choose your shade then wear it loud and proud.

You don't need to use Napoleon products to get this look - shop around there maybe a brand that is better suited to your skin needs and your wallets! My choice for the lip colour is Chanel's Rouge Allure Laque. It has a strong presence and comes in a variety of colours. If you want your eyes to have a colour that stands out I would suggest MAC they have the answer to any stand out eye needs you may have. If you want something a little less daring I would check your local beauty counter at Priceline to find one that is right for you!

Loving Khloe Kardashian

While I was away I become obsessed with Khloe & Lamar tv show. I wasnt feeling well this weekend so I spent it on the couch catching up with my new fav show. What do I like about it? Its funny and I don't see Khloe to be as superficial as other reality stars, she showed that she is just as insecure about her weight as most women and the games she plays to prove a point to her husband are priceless!

The Making Of Chanel Bag

May 30, 2011
When you touch a Chanel bag you know that it is something special but did you know it takes 6 to 15 people working up to 18 hours (depending on the material) to complete ONE Chanel 2.55!! Chanel bags also started out being only in black this now represents only 50% of the range today! Thats just amazing!

Snake Skin Clutchs

May 28, 2011
I love a snake skin clutch with one piece you can add texture to an outfit. It can also help take your outfit to the next step going from drab to fab. They are great if you feel like wearing an all one colour ensemble or if you are colour blocking there is no limit to what you can or cant wear with these  - Oh actually there is DO NO mix with other animal prints one is enough!

Studded Leather

I saw this jacket (left) while I was in Vegas and automatically feel hard and fast in love then I saw the price tag (it was close to $7,000) I quickly feel back out of love. Fast forward and hour later and I found my latest wardrobe addition. Now it may not be exact but I love it for what it is and what it reminds me of - that I dont need to spend $7k on a jacket when I can have one that looks a hundred times better and only cost me $70!

Bright

Colours are a great way to improve not only yours but other peoples moods. You cant help but feel uplifted seeing someone in a bright yellow dress you can't help but feel cheery. This isn't the only reason to wear colours, its nice to feel bright and its fun to dress them up especially with colour blocking being a huge hit right now!

Combat Boots

May 27, 2011
I don't believe this is the kind of boot you wear going into combat but never the less I think a girl should always be prepared!

Colourful Clutches

A clutch is one my most favourite accessories, it can take an outfit to the next level, stops you from carrying around the stuff you DON'T need and last but certainly not least they are just so damn chic!!

My USA Trip

Gucci Spring Fever

May 25, 2011
Its not just me loving the Gucci Spring 2011 collection so are the magazines! So far Gucci has racked up 50 magazine covers with this collection and why wouldn't they? This collection ticks all the boxes, colour (tick), wearable (tick), versatile (tick) dream-worthy (tick). Prada isn't far behind with the cover count but will it beat Gucci for the spring queen crown?

Stacked Up

May 24, 2011
I love a good bangle stack. Adding to a stack to an outfit can take your look to the edgy rock and roll look or depending on how you style take you to boho town! They are great to mix and match and there is no such thing as colour mismatching coz that's part of the fun. The possibilities are endless so start stacking!

Khaki Eyes

May 23, 2011
1. Chanel, 2. MAC, 3. Bobbi Brown, 4. Chanel, 5. Napoleon, 6. Naploeon, 7. Dior, 8. OFRA
I am obsessed with Khaki eyeshadow at the moment. I have brown eyes and find it really helps bring out tones in my eye colour. For those of you with hazel eyes this colour would make you shine. Unfortunately I'm not too sure on it working for blue eyed beauties but I could be proved wrong! With the colours that are in this season Khaki works well and even paired with pink lips it does not look over done

Colour Blocking Jackets

May 22, 2011
Jackets by:  TopShop, Star by Julian Macdonald, Dorothy Perkins, Balmain, Zalando, Costume National, Karen Miller, Aquascutum, Miss Selfridge, Vanessa Bruno, Balmain, Elizabeth and James

Colour blocking is one of the biggest faashion trends at the moment and why wouldn't it be? Colour blocking is a great way to not only bring personality to your outfits but to brighten them up and being winter I could think of no better time to bring colour into peoples lives

Messy Low Bun

May 20, 2011

I have seen a few pictures lately of the messy bun look and I became a fan very quickly. It is not a hair style that is suited to a special occasion because it can make it work with all outfits. Here's how to create the look:

1 - Brush / use your fingers to brush your hair to the drape of your next on the side which you want the bun and use a hair-tie to secure it in place. It does not need to be tight as the look is messy so if you have fly-aways leave them they help with the look

2- Twirl your ponytail then wrap around the base of the ponytail. Secure it with bobby pins allowing any loose ends to be free from the bun.

There is no limit on how many bobby pins to use or where to put them it is really about you and how messy you want the look to be. If you don't want the look to be messy use hairspray to secure the hairs on the crown of your head and the bun to keep the look in its place.

Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty

I was lucky to see the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the Met Centre while I was in New York. It was one of the most beautiful things I have seen in my life. Looking at the craftmanship of the designs you truly understand the greatness that was Aexaander McQueen. There are designs from as far back as 1992 with newer designs including items from the last collection that McQueen did himself.

One of the highlights of my trip thats for sure!

American Shopping Spree

May 17, 2011
I'm leaving to come back to Australia tomorrow and am so excited it will be awesome to see our family and friends and to see how all my new additions will look in my wardrobe! I would guess that I have spent about $900 give or take but that has given me the following:

17x tops
5x jackets
2x skirts
1x jumper
1x sketchers
3x heels
2x clutch
3x gym pants
2x tights
6x dresses
3x shorts
1x vest
2x spanx
And that's just the clothes, theres till the makeup to be included! I cant wait to start wearing these there have been some bargains in there that I would never of dreamed of getting in my life. Now the next question when do I come back?

Sephora Experience

I have heard of Sephora (who hasn't?) but with them not shipping to Australia or having a store there I had never had the "Sephora Experience" that was until today! I wandered into Sephora yesterday but having my boyfriend there with me I knew I was not going to enjoy it so I quickly left. Today I went back and I was right to ditch him. Sephora has some great products and they were so easy to find!

My skin has started to get really dry the past few days and I know that going from being in the middle of the desert to the freezing cold Australian winter that my poor skin will suffer so the first item on my to purchase list was some body butter. I got the body shop brand and it was $20. Looking at the size of it and judging by how much I used to cover myself head to toe this is going to last awhile!

The next item on my list was a new powder brush. I could not walk past the retractable brush and will show you why when I get home! The brush was $29.

Overall the store was clean, the staff were helpful and were not like a bad date trying to force themselves onto  you. This is a shop that would fit  perfectly in Australia lets hope to see it there soon!

Chanel Summer Nail Colours

May 16, 2011
The new Chanel nail colors that are out for Summer are beautiful. I must say that the yellow one is by far my favourite colour in the collection. You can purchase these from Chanel counters at Myer, David Jones or at Chanel Beauty stores. They are on sale now so there's no waiting for Australian summer for these!

NYC Shopping

May 11, 2011

Today was my last day in New York and while I am happy to be going (it means Im closer to coming home) Im going to be leaving with some amazing memories which I cant wait to look back on for the rest of my life!

I had my last NY shopping spree today I visited Macys (again note to all NOT the place to visit with your boyfriend), Century 21 and my new favourite H&M. We are off to Vegas tomorrow and from what I hear the shopping there is going to blow my mind!

Dry Bar

Dry Bar is an idea created around one simple thing: just blow drys! It is an amazing concept. How many times have you only wanted a blow dry but the hairdresser is booked out? I recently went to the one on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. The girls were so sweet. You walk in and are in awe with the sight it just mesmerizes youu, next you are taken to your "spot" to talk about what you want and to  show you the hair  menu (a book full  of styles in case you need inspiration) then it offs for a wash and styling. All of this costs $35 and there are no waits to get your hait done!

I enquired and apparently Dry Bar is coming to Australia within the next 12 months so keep watching this space

Alice McCall Spring Summer 2011/2012

May 8, 2011

Fresh, Fun & Romance -  3 words which I think describes Alice McCalls S/S collection. The structure of the shorts is amazing without even seeing the clothes up  front I can tell that they are made perfectly! Neutral colours mixed with patterns are a great look as they can help divert unwanted attention. Oh and the shoes  - look at those boots!! It is a collection that can be worn as it is shown or it allows you to add your own signature pieces to. Love it!
