NYFW Fall 2011

February 18, 2011
I am loving the latest designs to come out of NYFW the past 2 days. Michael Kors collection is glamorous yet suitable for everyday. Thakoon uses patterns in a way that makes me melt he is an amazing designer (thanks Anna Wintour). Marc Jacobs show is one of the most anticipated shows of the year but I must say he used too many dots for my liking. The patterned and lace designs were fantastic but dots are something I cant justify on clothes. Herve Ledger has used the banding in his designers and while one is very close to the designer that Rihanna wore to the Grammys, I felt that I liked his clothes but they were safe so to say and there is such a thing as too much nude in an outfit!

DIY - Clean Make-Up Brushes

I have been waiting to clean my make-up brushes for awhile now and after seeing the water after cleaning them Im disappointed it took so long for me to do after all I put these things on my face EVERYDAY. I found out this morning that make-up brushes carry allot of bacteria so they should be cleaned / disposed of regularly coz who really wants to put that crap on their face! I used normal dish washing liquid and a sink full of water but later found that using running water was allot easier plus you weren't putting the brush back in filthy water. This morning the difference was amazing and the brushes felt like brand new against my skin. I'd also forgotten that my powder brush was two toned! The lesson here to clean my make-up brushes more often

$5 Flats

February 16, 2011
I have been looking for a pair of flats for a few weeks not never did I think I would pick a pair up for $5! My boyfriend and I were at Kmart on the weekend and I thought I would have a quick look. There they were, I fell in lust with them instantly (I just don't see myself falling in love with flats) They also came in silver which for $5 I might go back and buy - thank goodness for Kmarts 24 trading hours who knows I may end up sleep driving there

Stop Impulse Buying

Impulse buying is one of the top problems that women deal with today. Many things can send us into a impulse buy frenzy but there are ways you can stop it or at least compensate for the guilt which you feel once reality has set in.

1. Your mood - If you have had a bad day stay away from anything that involves shopping. This is one of the worst times for Impulse buying. The thought of buying a new dress, jacket etc sounds like it will cheer you up but the thing is it wont. Go home call a friend to vent. Don't use your bank account to make you feel better.

2. Have a shopping plan - Know what you are looking for when you go to the shops. Have a night out planned? Plan what you want to wear ahead so that you buy one outfit for the night not 2 or 3.

3. Ration your dollars - You want to go out and buy a few things Great! But before you do decide and write down what you want to spend per item. This will help you like a budget would and stop you from spending more on a dress meaning you may have to miss out on that new handbag.

4. Carry Cash - It is easier to know how much money you have spent when you are paying in cash. Taking a limited amount of money with you also helps you from overspending.

5. Leave your cards at home - Most of us say oh my credit card is for emergencies then you spot them... the shoes that you must have and you ask yourself this is an emergency right? Wrong. Leaving the cards at home help cut out temptation

6. Do you really need it - Yes you want it but do you actually NEED it? There is a difference between need and want.

7. Unsubscribe from mailing lists - Do you need to know when your favourite shop has opened up a new store? Cancelling your subscriptions holds back the impulse to buy. Knowing that sales are on give people an excuse to buy.. it was on sale so I got it. Only buy it if you NEED it!

Once reality has set in and you are left with guilt if you can't return the item sell it. You may not make as much as you paid for it but that in itself is a lesson

Faux Fur Vests

Fur vests are starting to "pop" up in shop windows at the moment but the question is the price worth it? With some vest retailing for over $150. Shops in the Northern Hemisphere have just been through their faux fur trend and are selling these items BELOW $100. Fur vests are deep in the 70s inspiration look that is coming out. The thing to remember with this look is less is more. The vest should be the focus of your outfit so keep the rest simple overdoing it will kill the look.

1. Sportsgirl $129.95 2. Macys $49.99, 3. Arden B $42.50, 4. Shopbop $45.50, 5. Forever 21 $29.90  6. Rachel Zoe $76.32, 7. Dillards $29.99, 8. Victorias Secret $98, 9. Fred Flare $32.99, 10. NYFW Fall / Winter 2011 So Far

I love runway shows so much, going to them, working at them anything to do with them makes me happy. So far I have not gotten too excited about what has been shown at NYFW. Winter most people migrate towards black, white and grey. I will admit I am one of these but I love colour so I try to add cobalt blue or red to the mix. I was SO happy to see designers using these two colours in their designs. Satin is one of Winters most used fabrics and the structures and colours they have used on some of these dresses are amazing. I always love the dresses in Winter collections they are bright, feminine and the shapes are to suit all sizes. I have noticed one designers pieces to step abit to close to Balmains designs, the colours and shapes are very similar the only real difference is the fabric choices.

For My Man

February 11, 2011
I know that Valentines Day is on Monday but I get over excited when I buy gifts for people, so much so that I try to give the person their present before the actual day. Valentines Day this year is kinda the same, my boyfriend knows what I got him but he wont get it til Monday. The reason behind my present? With a big overseas trip planned I wanted to make sure that he had a brand spanking new camera to take his photos and movies with. This little baby cost $77 at JB it is 12mp with 3x optical zoom. Not a bad price considering mine has the same specs and 2 years ago I paid over $200 for it!

Sass & Bide Sells for $42/5 MILLION

February 8, 2011

Myer has just purchased a majority share in Sass & Bide for the small change amount of $42.5 million. There of course is good and bad news with this: The good Sass & Bide will be made more available as it will be sold in all Myer stores and Myer do lay by as well!! The bad I'm hoping that the prices wont become too inflated just because they are at Myer. In saying that I know that David Jones does hold some S&B stuff and their prices are WAY over the top hopefully Myer will be reasonable!!

Only time will tell......

There is nothing worse then wanting / needing new clothes and not having the money to buy anything BUT you do have a wardrobe sitting there full of clothes that you have never worn or no longer wear. Enter in Ebay. Now we all know about Ebay but I was surprised to find out that in this day and age there are still many people out there who don't use it. When I know that the urge is coming for me to buy clothes I simply go through my current wardrobe take out anything that is Ebay worthy and wait 7 days for the listings to end. I prefer people to pay via Paypal for the simple reason that it helps me spend the money I have made from Ebay only on new clothes. Allot of fashion stores now also accept Paypal as a payment method so if Ebay is not your choice for buying new clothes you still have the option of online retailers. Even choosing 5 things to sell on Ebay that may be more useful to someone else can get you that one step closer to rebuilding your wardrobe without opening your wallet!

New Additions

February 2, 2011
Sorry I have been MIA, the past week has been chaotic! My laptop broke so no computer for 3 days, Big Day Out was exhausting (lots of sleep needed to recover!), then finally my back gave in on Friday. I have been in agonising pain and unable to move plus all the other drama that has happened!

I did say awhile ago I was going to make my way to the Supre Factory and post my findings there has been a delay but here they are. The tops I purchased (there is one not here I somehow misplaced it in our apartment) were $2.50 each so was the skirt. The pants were $10 and are SO COMFORTABLE, finally the jumpsuit - I got this for the USA it was on sale from $50 down to $15 over 50% off and I have been wanting a black jumpsuit for awhile so this was perfect!! Besides black and long clothes in this heat? I can't bear the thought!! I purchased the jumpsuit online with money I made from selling on Ebay (more on that coming I promise
